Daffodils a'dilling

As of last week, Spring is officially here! Greg brought home some beautifully-bright yellow Daffodils AND... my new necklace from RachelleD on etsy arrived in a pretty little package, just for ME. :)

The weather is warm, my weeds are all pulled, my daylilies are starting to grow... I'm ready for Summertime!

She's a Maniac, Maniac! Why Skinny Girls SHOULD Work Out.

There are those that believe working out is merely for meat-heads and/or overweight people. It is this same set of people that shake their heads with a knowing smile or bug out their eyes incredulously when a skinny girl says "I really need to work out."

I'm here, with my sister and mother, to let those people know: we have made a new commitment to ourselves and our health. Exercise is good for everyone, even the weight-gain challenged!
Working Out is not to "stay/get skinny." Working Out is to stay/get HEALTHY.

Top Reasons Skinny Girls Do Not Exercise:
  • See incredulous reactions above.
  • They are told, "you are already skinny, you don't need to work out."
  • They think, because they are thin, they do not have body fat.... Soooo wrong!
  • They are too lazy and think that it won't change the way they look, so what's the point?
  • A Dumb Gym teacher in high school tells them to stop working out, that are anorexic and will never be able to have babies. (I know you're thinking "What the?!" but it's a true story).
  • They think they will always be skinny.

Top Reasons why Skinny Girls SHOULD Work Out:
  • Good for heart health
  • Brings more oxygen into your body, (more circulation, better oxygen flow).
  • Rids the body of toxins through sweat, therefore good for your skin!
  • Increases circulation through the body, therefore good for your skin, brain, limbs, etc.
  • Strength and muscle tone!
  • Exercise is proven to lift your mood! Depression and mood swings are lessened!
  • Um... how do I put this... healthy "relations" with your spouse. :)
  • What good is being skinny if you are sick all the time and can't even lift a grocery bag without getting shaky?!
  • Just DO it! You will feel SO much better!

Happy I'm Proud to be Irish Day!

Yay for St. Patrick's Day!

Bunratty Castle 2009
I hope everyone had a beautiful day, with "visions in green" and a general lack off obnoxious pinching! :)
Greg and I went up to eat at the Irish Embassy pub in Durango and, my oh my, what a party! We thought that by going early we would miss the drunken crowd....not so correct... apparently everyone takes off early for the party. sláinte!  Luckily, I got past the leaning-on-me-while-greg-was-in-the-bathroom-drunk guy, ate my shepherd's pie and chocolate-stout cake (YUM), and still got home by 9:30 (YAY).

I know I already have Irish blood in me from my mom's biological donor (Mahoney), but I'm super proud to have married into the McManus family and to carry an obviously irish name. :)
Can't wait to go back to Ireland with Greg and his parents in September! I love the people, the countryside, the country-pride. Amhrán na bhFiann !

Cliffs of Moher 2009

"May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face
and the rain fall soft upon your fields.
Til we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand."

Timber Tuesday

Timby-Timbo and G-Mac

Little T is my little Timber puppy. Yes, I still call him my puppy even though he is two years old and 45 lbs! His nicknames include, Timby, Timbo, Timbaline, Turdbucket, Bucket and Beaver-dog. :) I really should have kept his older brother Creek in mind when I named him.
Creek was found by, well.. a Creek... and really loved water ever since.

So... based on that one fact along, why in the world did I name our new pup Timber?! I basically gave him permission to show his love of wood by chewing everything made of wood that was in sight: Greg's favorite chair, wooden blinds and our WINDOW SILLS, to name a few!
I am truly amazed that Greg let me keep Timber past the first 8 months alone!
Luckily, he grew out of his chew-phase and now he's my best little buddy. :)
He thinks he's a lap dog and loves to cuddle, comes to let me hug and kiss on him when I sing-song his name, yodels at us when we are not paying attention, loves all dogs and all people, and despite being a little needy and whiny (like his mom, lol) is an all-around happy guy.
He makes me laugh, makes me smile, makes me feel needed, and he's a great listener.
Tuesdays, therefore, are dedicated to my Timber-boy and his weird/sweet little quirks.
I love my Pup!

Feelin Crafty II

Since we're still here, (instead of Hawaii), I decided to OD on CRAFTING! :)

Two weeks ago, Tannie, me, and Britney decided to get together and craft the yarn wreathes we've been talking about for months.

After spending 2 hours in Hobby Lobby... dangerous place :) .... we headed over to Britney's house for pizza and wreathing. It started out easy enough, ... that is... until our yarn skeens (sp?) started unraveling.... talk about a PAIN. :)

(see Britney's Cute Blog about it HERE)

Luckily, we got through all the knots and the mess and NOW: TaDa! A beautiful St. Patrick's Day Wreath to hang on my door! The great thing about it: everything is pinned on, so I can change it out as I want! YAY! Super cute, super cheap, super easy. Love it!

This week, I've been felting: an adorablely-ugly felt owl cover for my i-touch and then coffee sleeves for my friend's birthdays! I'm feeling so productive! Now I just need to start painting my cabinet I mentioned in February... I don't want to put it off too long or it will NEVER get done! :P
